Post decongestants
I am in need of a sinus decongestant (like Sudafed), but I honestly have no idea how to locate one. I'd probably get to the pharmacy and accidentally buy a laxative instead, and that wouldn't end prettily.

Can you get sudafed in this country? If not, is there a certain brand that anyone could recommend? And perhaps the romaji for such a thing?

thanks in advance.

You cannot get Sudafed in Japan, as it is illegal (as a banned stimulant or potential ingredient for making a narcotic drug like crystal meth). Also, taking Sudafed with you to Japan would get you into trouble with Japanese Customs if you were caught with the stuff.

As for alternatives, I'm quite sure of any brands

Go to the Pharmacy and point to your nose, ask for "shyouenzai" it means decongestant and/or anti-inflametory.

Ask for something strong "Tsuyoi no shyouenzai onagashimasu".

Please remember that most pharmacists can speak ok English. You can also take your health card to a Doctor and see what they presribe for you.

That's my 2 cents.

Hi all,

I've never heard of "Sudafed" in Japan and this is my first time. Is it a famous medicine ?
If the decongestant meant a nasal decongestant, there is a "nazaaru" (Japanese pronunciation).
I've never used it yet, my friend often uses it to control nasal symptoms of allergy.
